Synopsis:
Timber Nelson has recently returned home after serving two tours in Iraq. Suffering from PTSD, he’s a shadow of the man he was before his time in the military. Instead of learning to live with the nightmares he faced in the war, he drowns them in a bottle of Crown.
Katherine Pierce is an alluring woman with dark brown hair, tattoos, and a fiery attitude. Yet her history is one full of disturbing images that she’s been trying to run away from for the better part of six years.
Undeniable attraction between Timber and Kat reaches its peak and they both give in to the unquestionable pull.
Will Timber be able to save Kat from her past repeating itself?
And will they be able to soothe each other’s scars? Or will their old scars become new wounds?
Clare's Review:
A reeeaaally captivating book!! Definitely sucks you in and makes your heart hurt and turns you into a hugger. Everyone needs a hug. The characters are lovable and lustable and they have a great connection.
Kat is a feisty bartender overcoming what can only mildly be described as 'really bad high school years.' Timber was a part of those bad years, but they had a small connection even then. A few years later, back from the Army, they 'coincidentally' meet up while working to move forward. The heat starts rising from then on! BUT, along with the hotty hotness, there is a LOT of tenderness from both characters to the other, and it was very believable and easy to get wrapped up in. Kat and Timber begin to heal each other, as only love can do, and it's beautiful to see. I certainly loved them both.
When Kat's past comes back to haunt her, it threatens to derail everything, but Timber is amazing all the way. He's supportive and strong, al the while dealing with his own demons. It's nice to see two people working together!
This is a pretty quick read, because you won't really want to put it down, but also it's not too long. My only complaint was actually that it could have been longer! I would have loved to get a little deeper into their pain and make myself hurt more....I don't know why... 4 stars!
