Author: Claudia Connor
Publisher: Loveswept
 Release Date: February 3, 2015

Synopsis

New York Times bestselling author Claudia Connor follows up her heartfelt debut, Worth the Fall, with a novel about Matt’s brother, Stephen—and when a McKinney brother falls in love, powerful emotion and overwhelming desire are never far behind.

Two hearts locked away . . . Hannah Walker spends her days coaching children through injury and trauma, one therapeutic horseback ride at a time. She knows all too well how violence can change a child and leave scars that never heal. It’s easy for her to relate to the kids; what isn’t easy is the thought of facing her own harrowing past.

Millionaire playboy Stephen McKinney could use a little coaching himself. Five years ago he encountered his most horrible nightmare—and the nightmare won. No matter what he achieves, nothing can make up for that awful night . . . or so he believes.

Both desperate for a second chance . . . Stephen is used to getting what he wants. And he wants Hannah. So when she turns him down, he’s intrigued. What he doesn’t know is that her secrets will lead him to a place he never wanted to go again . . . to a side of himself he’s tried to forget . . . a side that would scare Hannah away from ever loving him. Now his only chance to win her trust is to bare his soul, risking everything he tried so hard to protect.

Steph's Review

Claudia has up and did it again!

Only this time around WTR has more damage and destruction to it. Don’t get me twisted; it has humor and romance as well but with a darker feel to it. There was suspense, danger, mystery, lies and secrets involved.

I loved how WTR was portrayed in a dual POV of Stephen and Hannah, giving us their most intimate thoughts. It allowed for a deeper connection and insight to the couple.

Stephen is a broken man with issues. Damn, this broody, damaged man makes a lot of mistakes. He has been hurt. He has loved and lost. And that has made him vulnerable. Now he refuses to connect to anyone or anything because of that guilt. He is often cold and detached from life, except for work. Being an asshole and shrewd business man that makes an obscene amount of bank is all he knows.

Until Hannah.

Hannah is remarkable. She is strong. She has lived through some horrendous circumstances in her life. Her upbringing has damaged her. After her mothers death, she was “smothered” by her over protective brothers. Hannah is shy, timid, has a low self-worth mindset and doesn't trust easily. But she is a survivor. She shows her true resilience by following her passion, horses and helping disabled children. Hannah has a pure, beautiful heart of gold despite her treacherous life.

Stephen and Hannah are amazing together. The slow build of their relationship worked flawlessly. They balance each other out. With her, Stephen discovers love, family and the simple happiness of life again. With him, Hannah gets tender intimacy, confidence and a sense of empowerment.Their journey to love isn't all hearts, flowers and unicorns shitting glitter. It is raw, gritty and heart wrenching… Worth The RISK IS painfully beautiful.

I look forward to the next installment of the delicious McKinney Brothers! And the possibility of a spin-off ~The Walker Brothers~ ?! ;)
